Sally and Anita
Pippins Childrens' Nursery was started in 1992.
Anita has been running children's nurseries since her eldest daughter, Laura was two, she is now twenty two. Originally from Coggeshall, apart from her university days in Portsmouth she has always lived in the Colchester area. Anita lives in Ardleigh with her husband, Mick and sixteen year old daughter, Catherine and as well as being a partner in Pippins she is also a partner at three other local nurseries. In 2001 Anita started nursery consultancy. This work has included trouble shooting, staff training, setting up new nurseries and long term management contracts. In her spare time! Anita enjoys reading, photography and Zumba. She spends her holidays in Canada visiting her daughter who lives there.
Sally grew up locally and returned to the area after her marriage to Angus in 1989 and moved across the road to Whites Farm in 1993 with their children Isabelle, Edward and Alice. Sally established Pippins in 1992 after converting redundant buildings on the farm. She had identified a demand for quality childcare and with her specific interest and training in Montessori, has developed Pippins to meet the ever changing demands of nursery education. Her partnership with Anita, which began in 2003, has allowed them to expand even further with the creation of a Baby Pippins to care for the 0 – 2 year olds opening in February 2011. Combined with the family farm growing fruit and flowers since 1937 and more recently creating bespoke willow fences, the swimming pool private hire which opened in 2000 and also past ownership of Whites Farm Baby Barn selling baby equipment, Sally is firmly based on site.
